KPOP idols are trained to be well-rounded in talents like singing, dancing, and rapping. But nowadays, they prove to be more multi-talented as they display their amazing acting skills in Korean dramas, movies, and even musicals. Here are some idols who gained recognition as successful actors and actresses:


Cha Eun Woo is a vocalist and visual of the KPOP Boy group ASTRO, which debuted in 2016. But originally, he started out as an actor with his cameo role in the Korean drama, My Brilliant Life, starring Song Hye Kyo and Kang Dong Won in 2014. After participating in a few web dramas, he finally bagged a lead role in the 2018 drama My ID is Gangnam Beauty with Im Soo Hyang. This led to the rise of his popularity as an actor, not just in South Korea, but also internationally. With this, he continually take on lead roles in Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung and True Beauty.


At the age of 15, Suzy debuted as the youngest member of the JYP girl group, Miss A, in 2010. After one year, she was casted as the lead role in the drama Dream High. She won many awards for her role as Go Hye-mi that eventually led to more successful dramas, movies, and even endorsement royalties. Sometimes, people forget that she debuted as a singer due to her participation in high-rating dramas like Uncontrollably Fond, While You Were Sleeping, and Vagabond. Right now, she's still at the peak of her acting career and just recently finished an international successful drama, Start Up.


Do Kyung Soo, also known as D.O., debuted as one of the lead vocalists of the 3rd generation KPOP boy group, EXO, in 2012. He proved himself to be one of the best idol-turned-actors of his generation. This is when he was nominated as Best New Actor in the 51st Baeksang Arts Awards for his supporting role in the drama It's Okay, That's Love in 2014. And later on, he won the Best New Actor award in the 38th Blue Dragon Film Awards for his role in the movie My Annoying Brother. As he just returned from the military, his fans are excited on what drama or movie roles he is going to take.


Before debuting as an idol in JJ Project(2012) and GOT7(2014), Park Jin Young was first seen in his supporting role in the drama Dream High 2. He took on different acting roles in dramas like This is My Love: The Beginning and Legend of the Blue Sea while being an active member of GOT7.

In 2016, he finally bagged a lead role in He Is Psychometric. Following that, he worked with veteran actors Yoo Ji Tae and Lee Bo Young in the melodrama When My Love Blooms. Lee Ji Eun, also known as IU, debuted as a solo singer in 2008. She just didn't achieve massive success as a singer, but also as an actress when she joined the all-star cast of Dream High. This led to more acting role offers in high-rating and internationally-recognized dramas like Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo and Hotel De Luna.
